TANNIQ Everest Aviator Shearling Leather Bomber Jacket
At $700, the Everest is the finest jacket we make. It's also the one that most clearly shows what genuine shearling is and why it's been the material of choice for cold-weather outerwear for over a century.
Shearling is sheepskin that has been tanned with the wool still attached. The leather exterior faces out; the natural wool faces in against your body. The wool is what makes this jacket exceptional in cold weather — it insulates by trapping warm air close to your skin in a way that synthetic linings simply can't replicate. It's the same material that kept pilots warm at altitude in unheated aircraft cockpits during the Second World War. It works because the science is right, not because of marketing.
The Everest uses a premium shearling hide selected for density, consistency of wool, and the quality of the leather exterior. The outer shell is a deep, rich brown that has natural variation across the hide — no two jackets come out identically, because shearling is a natural material and each hide is different. The leather exterior is firm and wind-resistant. The wool interior is thick, dense, and extraordinarily warm without being heavy.
The silhouette is classic aviator bomber — broad across the shoulders, slightly relaxed through the body, with ribbed cuffs and hem that seal the jacket close at the wrists and waist. The large shearling-lined collar is the centrepiece of the jacket. Worn up it wraps around your jaw and neck providing serious wind protection; worn down it frames the shoulders with a fullness and texture that photographs can't quite capture. The front closes with a durable zip over a snap-button placket for added insulation.
This is the jacket you buy once and keep for the rest of your life. Shearling ages exceptionally well — the leather develops a deeper patina, the wool softens slightly with wear, and the overall jacket becomes more supple and personal over time. Properly cared for, it will outlast anything else in your wardrobe.
